Christ's Lutheran Church in 1951

During that time a Sunday School was organized starting with one pupil but began to grow until we had forty. A junior choir was also started and our Christmas Pageants were enjoyed by many people. Our missionary society was one of the highlights of my ministry in Woodstock, and I always found the members to be very helpful and to be interested in the church work.
Mr. Kiersted was made Honorary Elder for life.

Erwin Holumzer, 31, was elected treasurer for the fund to build a Fellowship Hall behind the church; he reported a few months later on its status. Percy Croswell was made treasurer and later chairman of the fund for building a new parsonage, on the east side of the church lot.

Florence Webster offered to rent rooms to Pastor and Mrs. Cook for $25 per month, plus another $25 for utilities ($391 total per month in 2006 dollars), to clear the way for the old parsonage (the present-day Catskill Art and Office Supply store) to be sold, and as a temporary dwelling before the new parsonage was ready.

The congregation voted to approve the benevolence payment to the Synod of another $100 for the year ($782 per year in 2006 dollars). The choir was authorized to buy more hymnals as needed.

At Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA, a woman was an influential teacher of sociology.
