Christ's Lutheran Church in 1993

Pastor Kenneth Jetto ended his pastorate in May, accepting a call to St. Paul's in Red Hook. Wynemah Hinlicky, from St. John's Church in Poughkeepsie, was appointed Vice Pastor beginning May 17. By that time, the congregation was once again faced with grave financial difficulties and reduced membership.

The following is from the May issue of The Scroll(1):

Soup kitchen begins operation. No cooking on premises. Soup donated by Callahan's Restaurant, bread from Bread Alone, and coffee from Misty's.
Victoria Langling, as co-founder and general director, administered the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, which opened its doors to the hungry on May 17. According to Langling,
We formed partnerships with area restaurants and with the other houses of worship, including all the Christian churches, the Jewish Congregation and the Onteora Teachers Assoc. We have learned that there are many who are hungry and come to our church soup kitchen, but we have also learned that many are there for the companionship that comes from sharing a community table. Some early supporters: Barbara and Don Stephens, Carmen & David Adler, Marie Schussler aka "The Cookie Lady," Francis J. Turmo, Joe & Hedi Jorgensen, Nancy Pape, Lois Ostapczuk, Bob Langling, Bob & Carolyn Barrette, Bill & Chris Cox, Lai Look, Dottie & Bob Balzer, Kristen Scialampo, Henry Guendel, Pastor Ken Jetto,… Pastor Emeritus Walter Kortrey, and all families and spouses who worked with them and/or allow them to keep this commitment. Thank you to the many more volunteers too numerous to mention and please excuse me if I forgot anyone… it was not intentional. Thank you.
